وقد ألقت الكاتبة الأضواء على بعض الأحداث التاريخية المهمة التي تتصل بشخصيات الرواية، كعلاقة الشرق بالغرب، وحملة نابليون على مصر، والإمبراطورية العثمانية، والفتن الطائفية في سوريا ولبنان.
