يمتلك لسان الدين الخطيب شخصية أدبية ساحرة، تأخذ بمجامع القلوب، إعجاباً، وإنبهاراً، فهو شخصيّة أدبيّة متعددة النواحي والإهتمامات جمعت بين السياسة والأدب، وقد تمحورت حولها أكبر حركة تطوريّة عَرَفها النثر الفنّي في القرن الثامن الهجري، في الأندلس والمغرب العربي.
من هنا، يسعى هذا البحث لدراسة النثر الفنّي عند لسان الدين، والوقوف على أهمِّ خصائصه التي يستند إليها، وإبراز مكانته في تاريخ النثر الفني، والدور الذي لعبه في تطوّره، من خلال الأثر الذي تركه فيمن جاء بعده من الأدباء.
وقد جاءت هذه الدراسة في ثلاثة أبواب مسبوقة بتمهيد، ومتبوعة بخاتمة وقائمة بالمصادر والمراجع، وقد جاءت الأبواب وفق ما يلي: الباب الأول: "الأجناس الأدبية عند لسان الدين بن الخطيب"، الباب الثاني: "السمات العامة لنثر لسان الدين بن الخطيب"، الباب الثالث: "لسان الدين بين التأثُّر والتأثير".
