هذه قصائد منتخبة للشاعر السويسري فيليب جاكوتيه اختارها بنفسه، وشاء لها أن تكون موجزة ودالة على مراحل متعددة في مسيرته الشعرية. وقد لفت جاكوتيه، وبسرعة الأنظار إليه، إن بشعره أو بقطعه النثرية، بنبرة بالغة الاختلاف عن السائد في الأدب الفرنسي، صوت يتميز بهدوء، قد لا يكون منشأ الشاعر، السويسري، غريباً عنه، ولكنه في حقيقة القول، لا يبدو صادراً عن هبة أولى فطرية بقدر ما هو، وهنا تكمن أهمية، ثمرة نضال مواظب ضد التعقيد، فالوجازة هي السمة الغالبة لهذا الشعر، وهي لا تنم عن قصر نفس، لا ولا عن عدم ميل إلى الغناء، بل هي صيغة فنية وتحدِّ جمالي.
