كما أنه تطرق بعمق ونظرة ثاقبة في التحليل إلى العديد من الأفكار المحورية الخاصة بالثورة الفرنسية؛ مثل أسبابها ونتائجها وأهم الشخصيات القيادية فيها، وكذلك في معرض كل هذا تطرق للحديث عن موضوعات جوهرية أخرى فيما يخص الثورة، مثل الحرية والمساواة ودورهما وتأثيرهما على الشعب الفرنسي، وكيف انكسر حاجز الخوف لدى الشعب، وما هو دور المثقفين في تأليب الجماهير وإنارة الطريق.
