هذا كتاب الأمد الأقصى للقاضي أبي زيد عبد الله بن عمر الدبوسي الحنفي (متوفي 430هـ)، الذي جمع موضوعات مستقلة في السلوك الإنساني، والنفس البشرية كانت قد تفرقت فيما سبقه من كتب. وقد اهتم القاضي الدبوسي في هذا الكتاب بدراسة العلل النفسية والقلبية التي تبطل قبول الأعمال شارحاً قضية الصراع الثلاثي بين الجسم والنفس والروح مبيناً وسائل النجاة من هذا الصراع.
ثم يتحدث عن حكمة أصل الخلق مقارناً بين الإنس والجن والملائكة طارحاً عدة أسئلة مفصلاً الجواب عنها. ثم يقارن بين أدوار الإنسان والفصول الأربعة، ثم ينبه بين العلاقة التي تربط بين الرزق والتوكل والسبب. ثم ينتقل بعد ذلك إلى كتاب العبودية ثم كتاب الفقر، ثم كتاب الأمر، ثم السجن والمملكة، ثم الميزان، ثم أقسام النساء في الدين، ثم الدعوة والرؤية والبشارة، يبحث كل ذلك بأسلوب عميق ومفصل ينفذ من خلاله إلى لب الموضوع وجوهره من خلال رباعيات مهمة.
هذا وقد اعتنى عبد الغني مستو بتحقيق هذا الكتاب حيث قام: بوضع مقدمة تشرح منهجية الكتاب وأبوابه، وضع ترجمة للمؤلف، تخريج الآيات القرآنية، تخريج الأحاديث النبوية من مصادرها المعتمدة، شرح الكلمات الغامضة، التعليق على بعض المواضيع دون إطالة حتى لا يتغير مسار الكتاب أو يتضخم، وضع عناوين لبعض الفقرات تسهيلاً على القارئ.
