وقد استطلعنا رأي الكثيرين من مفكري هذه الأمة ممن اجتمعنا معهم، فوجدنا البعض يود أن تعود الخلافة ويكون للمسلمين خليفة رسمي يرجعون إليه وقت الحاجة، والبعض يريد أن تبقى الحالة على ما هي عليه، وبهذه المناسبة طلبنا من العلامة الكبير الأستاذ جميل بك العظم عضو المجمع العلمي العربي بدمشق رأيه في هذا الموضوع، فأطلعنا على مؤلفه "إلتزام الحصافة في الكلام على الخلافة" الذي ألفه لهذه الغاية في مصر، والذي لم يطبع بعد، وقد أتحفنا ببعض فصول منه، فرأينا من الفائدة نشرها في الوقت الحاضر الذي سيوضع فيه مسألة الخلافة على بساط البحث.
