السمة الأولى التي تسم رواية (الجدار) للكاتبة وفاء موفق الدالاتي، من حيث الشكل والمضمون، هي أنها موجهة للفتيان، فتهتم بهذه الفئة العمرية وتقدم لها (قصة رمزية إجتماعية) بأسلوب سردي بسيط، على مستوى المفردات، والتراكيب، والجمل، والمشاهد السردية، تاركة للفتية مجال ردمها بالتفاصيل المتخيلة، ما يسهم في بناء جيل مبدع يتنكر في ما يحيط به من أشياء.
وفي (الجدار) تروي وفاء الدالاتي رحلة أربعة أصدقاء في الصف الأول الإعدادي يقررون الذهاب في العطلة الصيفية إلى بلدة "ريون" لاكتشاف منطقة الجدار، فيواجهون مصاعب لم تكن بالحسبان وعلى الرغم من ذلك ما يزال الأصدقاء الأربعة "أرحب" ، "علام" ، "جادي" ، و "رانس" مصرون على متابعة الرحلة و"حين وصلوا قرب الجدار، وقفوا مبهورين من امتداده عبر مساحات واسعة. وبالرغم من أنه كان ولا يزال حديث الناس، إلا أنه كان فاصلاً خالياً من الناس، ومن الأشجار والنباتات، ومن البيوت باستثناء بعض الأعشاب المنثورة هنا وهناك (...) لقد ظنوا أن مجرد مسير بسيط بمحاذاة الجدار، يجيب على كل تساؤلاتهم التي طرحوها أثناء المشي، إلا أن الأمر كان فوق تصوراتهم الطفولية تلك ...".
عبر هذه الأجواء تدور أحداث (الجدار) وتنخرط في مغامرات وأحداث ومفاجآت شيّقة لا تخلو من متعة وفائدة، تنتظرنا عند الإنتهاء من قراءة الرواية.
