إن هذا المجموع الذي بين أيدينا هو لأحدِ فقهاءِ الحنابلةِ الكِبارِ، الذي انتشرَ صيتُه في الآفاقِ، وطارتْ كتبُه ورسائلُه شرقاً وغرباً، وانتفعَ بها الطَّلبةُ جيلاً بعدَ جيل، ذاكَ هو العلاَّمةُ الفقيهُ المفسِّرُ الأديبُ المربِّي المحققُ مرعيُّ بنُ يوسفَ الكرميُّ الحنبليُّ المتوفَّى سنةَ (1033هـ).
اقتفَى العلاَّمةُ مرعيُّ طريقةَ الأئمَّةِ الكبارِ السَّابقين، ونَهلَ في أكثِر رسائلهِ من علومِ شيخِ الإسلامِ ابنِ تيميةَ وتلميذهِ الإمامِ ابنِ القيِّم؛ عليهما الرحمةُ والرضوانُ، فسارَ على طريقتِهما في الكتابةِ في شريفِ العلومِ والمسائل، وعرضِ الأحكامِ والدَّلائل، والترجيحِ والمناقَشةِ والبَحثِ.
وقد جمعَ في رسائلهِ مئاتِ الفوائدِ والنِّكاتِ التي استَحسَنها من كتبِ الإمامَينِ الجليلَينِ، وضمَّ إليها ما التقطهُ من كتبِ مَن تقدَّمَهما أو تأخَّرَ عنهما؛ كغالزاليِّ والزَّمخشريِّ والرَّازي وابنِ الجَوزي وابنِ قُدامةَ والقُرطبيِّ والخازنِ والكَواشيِّ والذَّهبيِّ والعراقيِّ وابنِ مُفلح والمِرْداوي وابنِ حَجر والسُّيوطي.
