يناقش معنى مصطلح النكبة ويبين الأسباب التي دفعت إلى الأخذ به، ويدرس في الكتاب في الباب الأول النكبة قبل العصر العباسي، ويتناول الباب الثاني أدب النكبة في العصر العباسي حيث تبين أن هذا الأدب كان شعراً ومعظمه تناول نكبات المدن التي ولدتها الحروب الأهلية وأن كثيراً منه قد ضاع. وتحدث عن ضياع الشعر النكبوي وأسباب ذلك، وتناول نكبة بغداد وحرب الأخوين الأمين والمأمون، وحرب المستعين والمعتز, ونكبة البصرة على يد الزنج، ونكبة المدينة المنورة. أما الباب الأخير فقد خصص لدراسة الشعر النكبوي حسب منهج تكاملي في دراسته فهو تاريخي أحياناً وتأملي تأثري أحياناً أخرى, وبجانب الجانب الفني تم الاهتمام بالجانبين الاجتماعي والنفسي ومع التركيز على النص الشعري لم تهمل حياة الشاعر.
مواليد الدريكيش محافظة طرطوس عام 1943 تخرج من معهد اعداد المعلمين عام 1966.
