هو عالم وأديب سوري وأستاذ في جامعة دمشق، وأحد أبرز المفكرين والمثقفين في سورية، لديه أكثر من 22 انتاج أدبي وعلمي في مختلف الميادين الأدبية والسياسية والعلمية.
كان له الفضل في تحقيق مكاسب كبيرة لأعضاء اتحاد الكتاب العرب وخاصة في أول سنتين من تسلمه رئاسة اتحاد الكتاب العرب في عام 2005 تمثلت بتحقيق وفر عام بقيمة 27 مليون ليرة سورية، كما قام برفع قيمة الضمان شالصحي وأجور الأعضاء.

تناول هذا الكتاب النكبة الفلسطينية في سياقها التاريخي والفكري والسياسي والإجتماعي دامجاً بين المذهب الطبيعي والواقعي مشفوعاً بالشواهد الأدبية.
أي أن الكتاب قد تناول الشواهد الأدبية من حيث البحث في الوظيفة (المضمون والهدف) لا في الطبيعة (الشكل والجوانب الجمالية أو الفنية) ولو أنه لم يخلُ من تناول هذه الجوانب حيناً.
يؤكد المؤلف أن النكبة لم تكن حدثاً عابراً بل كانت جزءاً من مشروع إستعماري إستيطاني غربي التقت مصالحه مع مصالح الحركة الصهيونية العنصرية والتي وظفت أكاذيبها في سياق سياسة السيطرة الإمبريالية الغربية.
قدم الكتاب محاولة توثيقية لمواقف الأدباء والمثقفين العرب من القضية الفلسطينية في أبعادها الوطنية والقومية والإنسانية والذين تفاعلوا مع كل حدث سياسي وإجتماعي وفكري في المسيرة الفلسطينية بدءاً من بدايات تطبيق المشروع الصهيوني وصولاً إلى النكبة ومحاولات تجاوزها وتتويجها بترسيخ فكر وفعل المقاومة.
يتوجه الكتاب إلى جمهور كبير من القراء، ويعتبر من الكتب المهمة التي تندرج في إطار أدب المقاومة.
