منذ أن صاغ أحد الآباء المؤسسين للتحليل النقدي للخطاب؛ نورمان فيركلاف، رؤيتَه التي جسَّدَها بصيغة (اللغة بوصفها شكلاً من الممارسة الإجتماعية) لم تعُدِ النظرةُ إلى اللغة كما لو أنها كيانٌ مُستقلٌ فوق خطاب الكائن الإجتماعي.
لقد ترسَّخَ المنظورُ إليها على أنها معتركُ خطاباتٍ تنخرطُ دائماً في علاقات جدلية، وأن تفسير هذه العلاقات هو – بِدَورِه – ممارساتٌ تخداولية متغيرةٌ ومتجددة.
هذا الكتاب هو جُمَّاعُ محاولاتٍ في ممارسةٍ نقدِ الخطاب، وفي تفسيرِ بعضِ الممارساتِ الخطابيّة، وهو لا شكَّ آمِلٌ في أن يِجدَ له تَلقياً إيجابيّاً في فضاء ممارساتِنا المعرفيَّة العربيَّة.
