تعد الروائية ليلى الأطرش كاتبة متميزة على الصعيدين المحلي والعالمي، إذ لاقت أعمالها الروائية شهرة واسعة بالرغم من كثرة الأصوات الروائية المختلفة من حولها، حيث نلمح القدرة على الحضور والمساهمة في المسيرة الروائية ودورها في تقديم فكر الرواية وجزئياتها وإبراز فنياتها، في ضوء التشكيل الدقيق للجوانب الفنية بتفاعل وتطور بارزين.
يلاحظ المتتبع لروايات ليلى الأطرش، مدى إنعكاس الواقع على رواياتها حيث المآسي والإضطهاد الفكري والنفسي، والشعور بالعجز واليأس والإغتراب، إذ جسدت هذه الموضوعات في رواياتها وطورتها عبر مسيرتها الروائية.
ومن الجدير بالذكر قلة الدراسات السابقة التي تتناول البناء الفني في روايات ليلى الأطرش، إذ وجدت مقالات ودراسات متناثرة تتناول رواية أو أكثر حول قضية أو جانب من جوانب البناء، في حين تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تناول أعمالها الروائية جميعها في محاولة الإستشفاف البناء الفني ومدى تطوره عبر المسيرة الروائية لليلى الأطرش.
وتكونت الدراسة من مقدمة وثلاثة فصول وخاتمة، حيث قسّم الفصل الأول بعنوان "ليلى الأطرش وفن الرواية) إلى ثلاثة محاور، الأول: التكوين الإجتماعي والثقافي لليلى الأطرش، والثاني: الإطار العام لروايات ليلى الأطرش، والثالث: الرؤية والموضوعات.
وقسّم الفصل الثاني وعنوانه (البناء الحديث) إلى سبعة محاور تتناول جوانب البناء الفني الحديث ومدى توافق الروايات الثلاث "وتشرق غرباً"، و"إمرأة للفصول الخمسة"، و"ليلتان وظل المرأة"، وقسم الفصل الثالث وعنوانه "البناء الجديد"، أيضاً إلى سبعة محاور تتناول البناء الجديد، تبحث في روايتي "صهيل المسافات" و"مرافئ الوهم"، واحتوت الخاتمة على أهم النتائج التي توصلت إليها الدراسة.
