يتناول المؤلف في الفصل الأول صورة المرأة في روايتي "وتشرق غربًا" و"امرأة للفصول الخمسة". وفي الفصل الثاني يتناول السرد وأقنعته في رواية "امرأة للفصول الخمسة"، مؤكدا ما فيها من تقنيات سردية حداثية. وفي الثالث يتناول الخطاب النسوي في رواية "ليلتان وظل امرأة". وفي الرابع والخامس وقفتان إزاء رواية "صهيل المسافات"، وما فيها من كتابة سردية متحرّرَة من نون النسوة. ويقف بنا المؤلف في الفصل السادس إزاء رواية الكاتبة الموسومة بعنوان "مرافئ الوهم"، جامعًا بين تحديده لمكونات الخطاب السردي، ومرتكزاته البنيوية؛ من حوادث ومن شخوص ومن وظائف وتحولات. وحول السرد المؤطر في رواية أبناء الريح يدور الفصل السابع، فيما يتناول الأخير "ترانيم الغواية" بين التاريخ والأسطورة والواقع. أما الملحق، الذي هو بمثابة الفصل التاسع، فيتناول فيه الدارس كتاب نساء على المفارق وهو شهادات عن نساء التقتهن الكاتبة، فكانت لها معهن ذكريات، وحورات، في مؤلف وثائقي.
