إنَّ الله سبحانه وتعالى جعل لكل من الزوجين حقاً على الآخر، واجب عليهما أدائه وإستفائه، ومن الحقوق الثابتة الواجب على الزوج الإنفاق على زوجته أو زوجاته، فالحياة الزوجية تقتضي أنْ يلتزم الزوج بكل ما تحتاج إليه زوجته من المسكن والمأكل والمشرب والملبس وغيرها من الأمور الضرورية والأساسية كالتطبيب ونحوه وذلك حسب مكانته وقدرته المالية بمقتضى العُرف ومكانة العائلة، والله تعالى لا يجبر أحداً بشيء خارج عن قدرته ولا يكلّف نفساً إلا ما وسعها، فعلى الزوج القيام بأداء واجباته الزوجة أو الزوجات.
