هذا كتاب آثر المؤلف فيه أن يضع بين يدي القارئ مجموعة من المحاولات الفلسفية الفريدة، التي نزعت نحو تفسير الوجود، في مختلف تنوعاته، فوقف في البوابة عند آراء أحد أهم الفلاسفة المعتزلين المتوحدين ألا وهو هيرقليطس، ثم انتقل للحديث عن فكرة الدنيوية أو العالم المحسوس كما تبدت في تاريخ الفلسفة. وتناول بالتحليل فكرة المطلق عند الفيلسوف الألماني هيجل. وتطرق من مطلق هيجل إلى النزعة اللاعقلانية، في الفلسفة المعاصر’ وأخيراً وقف عند مشكلة خلود النفس كما فهمها الفيلسوف بديع الكسم.
هذا الكتاب تعبير حقيقي عن الحضور الكوني للفلسفة في مختلف تجلياتها, فهو ينزع بالقارئ نحو قبول الاختلافات المتعددة في الفكر الإنساني مما يساهم في تنوع الحقائق المطلقة المترتبة على هذا الفكر ذاته. وبذا تتقوض الحقائق المطلقة التي يزعم البعض أنها ملك له وحده دون غيره من بني البشر. وهاهنا نفهم كيف يفكر بارمنيدس أو أرسطو وكيف يتأمل أفلوطين أو ابن سينا، ونتعرف أيضاً على الطريقة التي يشكل بها هيغل منظومته الفلسفية, وندرك البعد العميق لفلسفات معاصرة مثل فلسفة الحياة وتداخل المذاهب اللاهوتية والفكرية في التاريخ العقلي للإنسان.
