لا يحفل النحو العربي بالاحتفال والإقبال إلا لدى طائفة قليلة، ممن دفعهم دراستهم التخصصية في المعاهد العليا والجامعات إلى أن يعانوا النحو على أنه مادة منهجية فرضت عليهم، فيجدون فيه صعوبة في المأخذ، حتى نرى من بينيهم من يتهم المناهج بالوعورة والتعقيد أو العقم والقصور، أو قد يرجع بعضهم ذلك إلى أساليب التدريس، وقد يرى البعض الآخر أن السبب يكمن في اتساع الشقة بين المراحل الدراسية بين مرحلة الثانوية والمرحلة الجامعية.. ولعل منهم من يرى في اجتماع هذه الأسباب جميعاً.. لقد اتجهت الدراسات الحديثة إلى تبسيط النحو، وعرضه وتحليله وعرض وظيفته الأساسية المحدودة بعيداً عن التعقيد الذي ينال من العزائم ويرهق الدارس.
وحاولنا في هذا الكتاب أن نقدم الاتجاه الذي يبسط النحو ويعرضه عرضاً شيقاً، لا يثقل الذهن، ولا يرهق الحافظة، ويزيد في التيسير.. وتجنبنا التعقيد وذكر الأمثلة المعقدة.. وعرضنا الأمثلة وبسطنا إعرابها حين العرض ليسهل على الدارس فهمها وبذلك نكون قد قربنا النتائج أو أكدنا وأبعدنا المهجور، وآثرنا الرأي الواضح، وأغفلنا البعيد، وحاولنا أن نكثر من الأمثال والشواهد، وحرصنا على تقديم تدريبات تعالج المادة وتنشط ذهنية الدارس آخذين بالرأي الذي يرى أن القواعد النحو دون تطبيق كمثل محاضرات يلقيها متخصص على ناشئين يعلمون السباحة، يلقيها عليهم، وهو واقف معهم على رمل الشاطئـ فقد يلم هؤلاء الناشئون إلماماً نظرياً بمهارات السباحة وحركاتها، ولكنهم لن يعرفوا السباحة حقاً إلا إذا ألفى في التيار، وأحرزوا النجاح مرة بعد مرة، وتعرضوا الإخفاق تارة أخرى، حتى يتسنى لأجسامهم -بطول الممارسة- أن تشق الماء وتنساب بين أمواجه.
