بتاريخ 9/ 11/ 1947 صدر عن الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة القرار رقم 181 والذي قسّم فلسطين إلى دولتين: واحدة عربية وأخرى يهودية، حيث اكتسبت إسرائيل من هذا القرار شرعية وجود كيانها، ما دفع العرب لمعارضته بالقوة العسكرية وعندما فشلوا، وافقوا مرغمين على إتفاقيّات الهدنة التي وُقّعت بين "إسرائيل" من جهة، وكل من مصر ولبنان والأردن وسوريا من جهة أخرى، مع تأكيدهم على إبقاء هذه الهدنة في إطارها العسكري تجنّباً للإعتراف السياسي بها، كون الهدنة من الناحية القانونيّة هي: "إتفاق على إيقاف القتال مع بقاء حالة الحرب قائمة...".
حصل ذلك في حمأة الصراعات الدولية والإقليمية، والتي كانت لصالح "إسرائيل" لتمتّعها بدعم ومساندة لا محدودة من جانب العرب عموماً، والولايات المتحدة الأميركية خصوصاً، ما جعلها تتفلّت من الإلتزام بالقرارات والمواثيق الدولية، وكان في مقدّمة هذه الإتفاقيّات، إتفاقية الهدنة الموقّعة مع لبنان عام 1949 والتي ظلّلته بالشرعية الدولية من جهة، وحفظت له من جهة أخرى حقّه القانوني في إستخدام كل أساليب المواجهة السياسيّة والعسكرية معها.
تبقى الإشارة إلى أن التحرير الذي حصل عام 2000، أسقط من معادلة الصراع في الشرق الأوسط نظريّة الوهم العربي بأن إسرائيل قضاء وقدر وقوة لا تُقهر، بدليل فشل عدوانها على لبنان عام 2006 أمام ثلاثية الجيش والشعب والمقاومة رغم الجدل السياسي الداخلي اللبناني حول هذه النظرية.
هذا، ويضيء الكتاب على خبايا وخلفيات السياسات الغربية والدولية الداعمة لإسرائيل والمعادية للعرب.
