إن مؤلف هذا الكتاب الإمام العلاّمة الدّاعي إلى الله بقوله وفعله قطب الإرشاد الحبيب "عبد الله بن علوي بن محمد الحدّاد" الذي ولد بالسبير من ضواحي مدينة تريم بحضرموت ليلة الخميس 5 صفر سنة 1044هـ وتربّى في تريم، وقد كُفَّ بصره وهُوَ صغير فعّوضه الله عنه بنور البصيرة وجدّ واجتهد في طلب العلوم النافعة وعكف على عُلماء عصره في مُقدمة مشايخه السيد "عُمر بن عبد الرحمن العطاس" والعلاّمة "عقيل بن عبد الرحمن السّقاف"، ثم نصبه الله للدعوة والإرشاد داعياً إلى الله تعالى بالحكمة والموعظة الحسنة فأقبل عليه الناس، وانتشر صيته في البُلدان وانتفع به القاصي والدّاني فنفع الله به الكثير وأرشد الجم الغفير وانتشرت دعوته في كل مكان.
ومؤلفاته غنية عن التعريف ومشهورة لدى الكبير والصّغير ومنها النصائح الدينية، والدعوة التّامة ورسالة المعاون وغيرها من الوصايا والرسائل ومجموع كلامه تثبيت الفؤاد وديوانه العظيم الدُرّ المنظوم الجامع للحكم والعُلوم ووصاياه ومُكاتباته وأكثر مؤلفاته مطبُوعة وأقبل عليها الناس إقبالاً شديداً وأعجب بها العُلماء والعارفون وجعلوها بمنزلة الغذاء يقرأون فيها في كثير من الأوقات وقالها عنها أنها جمعت الخلاصة والزبدة من كلام الإمام حجة الإسلام الغزالي ولا يستغني عنها كل مسلم فهي وجيزة وجامعة...
وهذا الكتاب المعنوّن "كتاب إتحاف السائل بجواب المسائل" هو أحد كتبه الفنية حيث احتوى على جواباً على عدة مسائل، أثبتها المؤلف في ورقة لتكون فيها تبصرة وإيناسٌ للسائل تضمنت الحديث عن معنى "لا إله إلا الله"، وعلم التوحيد، عن معنى التنزيه والثناء، عن الرياء والإعتماد على الأعمال، عن ترتيب قراءة سورة الواقعة، وغيرها الكثير من المسائل التي ينتفع بها المسلم.
