نظراً لأهمية موضوع العمل الخيري والإنساني في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، اهتم مركز الإمارات للدراسات والبحوث الإستراتيجية بتشجيع إجراء هذه الدراسة التي تدور حول هذا الموضوع، الذي تم اختياره من بين القضايا المعاصرة التي تقع ضمن اهتمام المركز. وقد خرجت هذه الدراسة في بابين يتضمنان ثمانية فصول: الباب الأول عبارة عن الإطار النظري للدراسة..
وينقسم هذا الباب إلى ثلاثة فصول يوضح الفصل الأول منها أهداف الدراسة ومفاهيمها الأساسية، ويعرض الفصل الثاني للنظريات التي تفسر وظائف الجمعيات الخيرية وعلاقتها بالدولة، ويتضمن الفصل الثالث نبذة تاريخية عن العمل الخيري والإنساني في مجتمع الإمارات.
أما الباب الثاني من هذه الدراسة فيعرض لحظة الدراسة الميدانية ونتائجها. ويتضمن هذا الباب الخامس فصول: يوضح الفصل الرابع منها خطة الدراسة الميادنية وتعرض الفصول الأربعة التالية النتائج التي أسفرت عنها الدراسة الميدانية، حيث يوضح الفصل الخامس بناء الجمعيات الخيرية وعلاقاتها بالدولة ويعرض الفصل السادس مكانة الجمعيات الخيرية ودورها في المجتمع، ويدور الفصل السابع حول دوافع العمل الخيري والإنساني والفئات المستفيدة منه، ويتناول الفصل الثامن معوقات العمل الخيري والإنساني. وأخيراً تنتهي هذه الدراسة بخاتمة تناقش أهم النتائج العامة التي نوقشت مناقشة مفصلة في ثنايا هذه الدراسة، مع وذع بعض التوصيات التي تم وصغها في ضوء نتائج الدراسة الميدانية.
