سكن بغداد. وسئل أن يلي القضاء فامتنع. له تصانيف في شرح مذهب مالك والردّ على مخالفيه منها (الرد على المزني) ومن كتبه: (الأصول) و (إجماع أهل المدينة) و (فضل المدينة على مكة) و (العوالي) و (الأمالي) كلاهما في الحديث

هذه رسالة لواحد من أكابر الأئمَّة في الكلام والفلسفة هو الإمام أثير الدِّين الأبهريُّ (663هـ)، وهو من تلاميذ الإمام فخر الدِّين الرَّازيِّ.
وقد صنَّف الإمام الأبهريُّ هذه الرِّسالة في تقرير مسائل الإعتقاد على مذهب أهل السُّنَّة والجماعة وفي تحرير أدلَّتها.
فكانت هذه الرِّسالة على إختصارها مؤصَّلة دقيقة، وكان ترتيب مقدِّمات الإستدلالات فيها وتقسيم المسائل مُيسِّرَيْن للوصول إلى النتائج بأمكن الطُّرق.
وكان ذلك دالاًّ على علوِّ مقام الإمام الأبهريِّ وملكته الرَّاسخة في النَّظر والتَّصنيف.
