هذا الكتاب هو بمثابة مقرر درسته في كلية الآداب والعلوم الإنسانية، الفرع الرابع، باللغة الفرنسية وكان التركيز على كتاب سيمون دو بوفوار "الجنس الآخر Le deuxième sexe وكذلك عرضنا لمؤلفات نوال السعداوي "الأنثى هي الأصل". ينطلق الكتاب من مسلمة عدم المساواة بين الرجل والمرأة في جميع المجتمعات كاشفاً أن عدم المساواة هذه هي أيضاً في الغرب. فالمرأة الغربية ورغم تطورها الملحوظ في النصوص والعادات إلا أن المجتمعات الغربية لا تزال تنظر للمرأة نظرة دونية (بدليل عدد البرلمانيين النساء المتواضع جداً). يتولى الدين بصورة أساسية تشريع اللامساواة: الرجل رأس المرأة (عند المسيحيين) أو مبدأ القوامة عند المسلمين). في أي حال أحاول في هذا الكتاب توخي الموضوعية بحيث أنني أضيء أيضاً على أخطاء المرأة التي تحاول إبعاد الرجال عن نضالها وتدخل في لعبة العداء القاتلة. لا ننسى أن كبار المناضلين النسويين هم أيضا من الرجال وسأعطي مثالاً من عندنا: السيد عبدو مرتضى الحسيني البعلبعكي الشيوعي المناضل كان رئيس أول جمعية نسائية تأسست في بعلبك.
