يجيء هذا الكتاب منسجماً مع النظرة الحديثة للرياضيات، وتنظيم المنهاج حسب ما أوصت به اللجان والمؤتمرات المتخصصة عالمياً وعربياً، وهذا ما تناوله الفصل الأول والثاني من الكتاب.
أما الفصل الثالث فقد تناول آراء كبار التربويين وعلماء النفس في نظريات التعلم، ممن ساهموا مساهمة فعالة في التأثير على تدريس الرياضيات وأثروا معرفة المهتمين بمناهج الرياضيات وأصول تدريسها، وتناول الفصل الرابع إستراتيجيات التدريس بصورة عامة، وقد بنيت هذه الإستراتيجيات على مفهوم تحركات المعلم وإستجابات الطلبة، وإعداد الأهداف التدريسية بصورة إجرائية وسلوكية.
ويتناول الفصل الأخير في هذا الكتاب تقويم تحصيل تعلم الطلبة، وأنواع الأسئلة، وكيفية إعداد إختبارات التحصيل التي تقيس المستويات المختلفة للمعرفة الرياضية، وقد قدمت نماذج متعددة من الأسئلة ضمن هذه المستويات.
