من الملاحظ أن القصة القصيرة جداً آخذة في الإنتشار والشيوع. إذ استطاعت بحجمها الصغير أن تحتل مكاناً متميزاً في عالم الأدب؛ وقد ساهم في جعل القصة القصيرة جداً فناً متقبّلاً من طرف قرائه ومحبّيه، كتّابٌ محترفون ومتخصصون في صنعته وإبداعه؛ ومن بين هؤلاء يبرز محمد بن مانع الشهري ، فمع جديده المعنون بـ "لفائف" وفيه يقدم للقارىء قصصاً تعتبر غاية في الإيجاز والإقتصادي والتكثيف، وبقراءة متأنية لهذه المجموعة، نجد أنها لا محال تجربة قصصية غاية في الغنى والأهمية، وهي من النوع، خير الكلام ما قلّ ودلّ، وقد عرف القاص كيف يعالج هموم الإنسان من خلال هذه القناة التعبيرية الجديدة.
تحت عنوان "ضرورة" نقرأ: "ظل يبحث عن ضوء لروحه .. تفقد القناديل والأضواء .. تلك الشوارع والأرصفة .. كان يبحث بعيداً، فأرشده حكيم .. ألا ضوء بلا هواء".
أما في القصة المعنونة بـ "إضاءة" يوفر النص لقارئه طاقة قرائية لا محدودة، تمكنه من حفر مسارات تأويلية زاخرة وغنية وذات بُعد إنساني واسع: "تساءل الأول "بم تحلم؟ / فأجاب الثاني / ما معنى هذه الكلمة؟ /، فقال الثالث / لعله يقصد الرغيف! / تعاركوا؛ فسقط الأحفاد قتلى في خنادق التأويل".
يقسم الكاتب مجموعته إلى خمسة عناوين رئيسية يضم كل عنوان مجموعة من القصص وهي: 1- ناحية السماء، 2- ناحية الأرض، 3- ناحية التاريخ، 4- ناحية المستقبل، 5- ناحية الأوطان.
