يهدف هذا الكتاب إلى إيضاح مفهوم الصورة الفنية فى الشعر، ثم تطبيق أشهر ملامح ذلك المفهوم على شعر عربى لشاعر لم يشتهر، ولم يكن من شعراء العصورالأدبية الزاهرة؛ وذلك لتحقيق هدفين: تقريب مصطلح نقدى، والكشف فى ذات الوقت عن شاعر مغمور. وتقوم مادة هذا الكتاب على خمس وحدات، ويلحق بكل واحدة قائمة للحواشى والتعليقات. وسوف تجد -أيها القارىء الكريم- أن هناك رموزاً لأسماء بعض المصادر من أجل الإيجاز.
أما الوحدات الخمس فالأولى تتناول الصورة الفنية فى الشعر، المثال المختار، أما الوحدة الثانية فهى فى مصادر الصورة فى شعر حازم القرطاجنى، الثالثة فى مادة الصورة الفنية، أما الوحدة الرابعة فتتناول وسائل التصوير الفنى وقد جاءت الوحدة الخامسة فى الوجهة الإسلوبية.
