في هذا الكتاب يروي المحامي والكاتب إبراهيم عبدالرحمن، قصته الطويلة والمثيرة مع عبدالله القصيمي، منذ أن تعرّف إليه، وهو طالب في المرحلة الثانوية في مدينة حلوان، وإلى أن واراه الثرى، ونشرَ خبر نعيه في صحيفة "الأهرام" القاهرية. تفاصيل مثيرة ومهمة طوال خمسين عاما، منذ لحظة اللقاء الأول، مرورا بأحداث ومواقف في حياة القصيمي ومسيرته لم تروَ من قبل؛ نشاطه الفكري والثقافي في القاهرة ثم في بيروت، وقرارات إبعاده من القاهرة أولا ثم من بيروت ثانيا، أسبابها وتداعياتها، ومن هم أبرز ضيوف ندوته الأسبوعية، وكيف كانت تدار تلك الندوة؟ يتتبّع المؤلف تاريخيا مسار إصدارات ومؤلفات عبدالله القصيمي في تحولاته الفكرية الثلاثة: السلفية ثم الإصلاحية ثم التحرر والتمرد، وهي مؤلفات بلغت 22 كتابا، بكل ما شاب تأليفها وطباعتها من ظروف وملابسات وحِيل للتغلّب على نقل بعض مخطوطاتها من القاهرة إلى بيروت، وأخيرا باريس. لم يغفل المؤلف الإحباط الذي عاشه القصيمي بعد تراجُع توزيع كتبه في الوطن العربي بسبب منعها، وهو إحباط لازمه حتى وفاته.
