أم درمان هي مدينة في السودان، تقع في ولاية الخرطوم على طول الضفة الغربية لكل من نهر النيل الأبيض قبالة مدينة الخرطوم وعرب مدينة الهرطوم بحري، ويبلغ عدد سكانها حوالي 726.827 نسمة (يونيو 2001م) وهي بذلك أكبر مدينة في البلاد، وأهم مركز تجاري بها، وتشكل مع كل من الخرطوم بحري تكتلاً حصرياً يبلغ إجمالي عدد سكانه 7.830.479 نسمة 2006 تكتب أحيانا أمدرمان، ويطلق عليها أيضاً أسم "أم در" اختصاراً وكنية كما تعرف بالعاصمة الوطنية، موقع أم درمان في العاصمة المثلثة توجد في أم درمان الأستوديوهات الرئيسية لإذاعو وتلفزيون السودان الرسميين ومبنى البرلمان وقيادة السلاح الطبي، كما يقع جنوبها مطار الخرطوم الدولي الجديد ومسجد النيلين المميز المعمار والمسرح.
