كتاب انتصار الحضارة لجيمس هنري برستيد، يعتبر هذا الكتاب مفيد جدا للقارئ العربي وخاصة الطلبة في مسيس الحاجة إلى مثل هذه الأعمال الجادة، ويرجح أن كتاب انتصار الحضارة من خير الكتب التي ألقت المنفعة للطلبة، إذ انه كتب للطالب المبتدئ الذي يريد أن يعرف كيف تطورت المدنية وكيف ارتقى الإنسان وكيف ارتقت حضارته في مصر والشرق الأدني القديم.وكان برستد يؤمن بأن فهم الحضارة المصرية ودورها في رقي البشرية يكتمل بفهم ودراسة حضارات الشرق الأدني القديم والتي تمثل دراستها وحدة متكاملة لمن يرغب في دراسة نشأة الحضارة، فهي حضارت عاصرت بعضها البعض واتصلت ببعضها وأثرت فيما بينها، تفاعلت مع بعضها البعض في علاقات تجارية وسياسية وعسكرية وكذلك بهجرات لبهض سكانهت من حين لأخر، لذلك يعتمد كثير من الباحثين في كثير من الأحيان عند دراسة بعض القضايا.ويعرض الكتاب لنشأة الحضارة وانتصارها من البدايات الأولى (فى العصر الجليدى والعصور الحجرية القديمة والعصر الحجرى الحديث ) حتى اكتشاف الزراعة ،أرتقاء حضارات الإنسان فى مصر والشرق الأدنى القديم التى تعاصرت وتفاعلت مع بعضها فى علاقات تجارية وسياسية وعسكرية . ويستكمل الكاتب متابعته للحضارة المصرية وصولأُ للعصر الفرعوني ويستكمل حتى نهايته ثم يدخل على حضارة السومريين فى بلاد الرافدين وحضارة الأشوريين والبابليين ، وينهى برستيد قصته بقدوم الشعوب الهندو أوربية وقيام دولة الحيثيين فى غرب آسيا ثم بقيام الإمبراطورية الفارسية.
