"طائر الأرجوان" قصة تربوية تُعرف الأطفال ليس بتاريخ فلسطين وحسب، بل تمتد إلى شبه الجزيرة العربية مع بداية الهجرات البدوية السامية إلى البلاد الواقعة شمال الصحراء: بلاد الحضارة البابلية (العراق)، أرض الرافدين (دجلة والفرات)، وإلى بلاد الشام أرض الغصب والجمال (فلسطين، سوريا، ولبنان)، ولتقريب الموضوع أكثر إلى أذهان الأطفال تستعيد المؤلفة أسطورة عصفور الجنة وتبني عليها مادة الحكاية، تقول الأسطورة: "إن عصفور الجنة، عصفور بديع أرجواني اللون حلق في سماء الجزء الجنوبي من بلاد الشام، بريشه الأرجواني الخلاب، وذيله الطويل الملون كألوان الطيف في ضوء النهار، ومنقاره الأصفر اللماع، وعينيه البراقتين".
سيرافق الأطفال عصفور الجنة في برحلة جميلة خلال طيرانه فوق المدن الكنعانية والموانئ مفرداً ينقل لهم حكاية فلسطين، من غزة إلى مُجدُّو ومن عكّا إلى الكرمل، ومن أريحا إلى غزة مرة أخرى، سيقول لهم الطائر الجميل أن أرضهم "أرض كنعان"، أي "أرض الأرجوان" سميت كذلك لإشتهار تجارها في كل العالم بتجارة الأقمشة المصبوغة باللون الأرجواني، وأن الكنعانيون هم من اخترع "أول مرة الكتابة بالحروف الأبجدية" وأنهم أي الكنعانيون هم من استخرج المعادن وصنع أدوات الطعام واخترع الآلات الموسيقية الوترية مثل القيثارة والعود، وأوجدوا الناي والمزمار والدف، ليعزفوا ألحاناً عذبة كألحان عصفورهم الجميل...
هذا الكتاب يختصر تاريخ فلسطين كلها في حكاية، (النشأة، البناء، الإحتلال، النزوح)، ويطالب بحق العودة لشعب لم يتبق له من بيوته إلا (المفتاح) علّه يفتح يوماً أبواب أرض كنعان.
