كتاب في علوم الحديث يتضمن مباحث في مصطلح الحديث الشريف يحتاج اليها المبتدىء ولا يستغني عنها المنتهي تتعلق بالحديث الشريف من ناحية اصوله وتاريخه ورواته وعناية الامة الاسلامية به.
جعلها المؤلف في ستة فصولٍ: الفصل الأول: في التعريف بالسُّنَّة، وبيان حُجِّيتها، وإنَّها الأصلُ الثاني للتشريع، وتاريخ تدوينها، وعناية الأمة الإسلامية بها، وجُهودهم في حفظها، والفصل الثاني، ذكر فيه المؤلف تعاريف مهمَّة تتعلَّقُ بعلْم الحديث وأصوله، لا بُدَّ لطالب علّم الحديث من ملاحظتها، وذكر فيه أيضاً شيئاً من فضل علم الحديث، وفضل أهله.
والفصل الثالث: ذكر فيه جُملةً وافرةً من أنواع عُلوم الحديث، وهي التي تُعرفُ بين العلماء بالمُصطلح، وهي الأصل في هذا الفنِّ، والفصل الرابع: ذكر فيه ما يتعلَّقُ بالصحابة من ناحية تعريف الصحابي، وفضل الصحابة، وشرفهم، وطبقاتهم، والمُكثرين في روايةٍ الحديث منهم، وأخبارهم، والفصلُ الخامس: ذكر فيه طبقات كُتبِ الحديث وأنواعَها، والفصل السادس: ذُكَرَ فيه أشهر أئمة الحديثِ، وبيَّنَ كتابَ كُلِّ واحدٍ، وفضلهُ، ومُميِّزاته.
