هذه مباحث في مصطلح الحديث الشريف، يحتاج إليها المبتدئ، ولا يستغني عنها المنتهي، تتعلق بالحديث الشريف، من ناحية أصوله، وتاريخه، ورواته، وعناية الأمة الإسلامية به، جعلتها على ستو فصول:
الفصل الأول: في التعريف بالسنة، وبيان حجيتها، وأنها الأصل الثاني للتشريع، وتاريخ تدوينها، وعناية الأمة الإسلامية بها، وجهودهم في حفظها.
والفصل الثاني: ذكر فيه تعاريف مهمة تتعلق بعلم الحديث وأصوله، لا بد لطالب علم الحديث من ملاحظتها، وذكر فيه أيضاً شيئاً من فضل علم الحديث، وفضل أهله.
والفصل الثالث: ذكر فيه جملة وافرة من أنواع علوم الحديث، وهي التي تعرف بين العلماء بالمصطلح، وهي الأصل في هذا الفن.
والفصل الرابع: ذكر فيه ما يتعلق بالصحابة من ناحية تعريف الصحابي، وفضل الصحابة، وشرفهم، وطبقاتهم، والمكثرين في رواية الحديث منهم، وأخبارهم.
والفصل الخامس: ذكر فيه طبقات كتب الحديث وأنواعها.
والفصل السادس: ذكر فيه أشهر أئمة الحديث، وبين كتاب كل واحد، وفضله، ومميزاته.
