إنه لو محّص الباحث في التاريخ الإسلامي، وتبيّن ما نشأ فيه من عقائد وآراء ونظريات لعرف أن السبب الموجب لهذا الاختلاف إنما هو ثورة لعقيدة، ودفاع عن نظرية أو تحزب لرأي؛ وإن أعظم خلاف وقع بين الأمة اختلافهم في الإمامة، وقد طبعت الأجيال المختلفة في الإمامة على حب هذه العصبية وألفت هذه الحزبية؛ بدون تدبر وبدون روية، ولو أن كلاً من الطائفتين نظرت في بينات الأخرى نظر المتفاهم لا نظر الساخط المخاصم؛ لحصحص الحق وظهر الصبح لذي عينين.
وقد تناول الإمام عبد الحسين شرف الدين الموسوي مسألة الإمامة في هذا الكتاب حيث عالج هذه المسألة بالنظر في أدلة الطائفتين، لفهمهما فهماً صحيحاً، بعيداً عن كل ما يحوطها من العواطف والعصبيات، بقصد الحقيقة المجمع على صحتها، فلعلّ ذلك يلفت أذهان المسلمين؛ ويبعث الطمأنينة في نفوسهم، بما يتحرر ويتقرر من الحق، فيكون حداً يُنتهى إليه إن شاء الله تعالى.
