تعتبر النقابات من مؤسسات المجتمع المدني، وهي شكل من أشكال تنظيم القوى العاملة، وهذا الكتاب يضيء على فترة نشوء النقابات الفلسطينية، وبدايات العمل النقابي في فلسطين، ويضيء ايضاً على شخصيات أصبح لها دورها اجتماعياً وسياسياً في الساحة الفلسطينية. يبين الكاتب الدور الذي لعبتع هذه النقابات في بداياتها في مقاومة الإحتلال وتجنيد فئات الشعب نحو التوعية السياسية، إذ كان للقوى السياسية المختلفة الأثر الواضح في تطور هذه النقابات والاتحادات وتوجيهها لخدمة المجتمع والقيام بدور فاعل في مقاومة الإحتلال، كذلك كان لمنظمة التحرير الفلسطيني دور هام في تفعيل وتنشيط النقابات وتعبئة الناس ضد الصهاينة المحتلين... ومن أوائل النقابات التي تم انشاؤها نقابة الإتحاد العام لعمال فلسطين واتحاد كرة القدم والإتحاد النسائي في عكا والإتحاد العام لطلبة فلسطين والإتحاد النسائي العربي الفلسطيني والإتحاد العام للمرأة الفلسطينية.
