هذا الكتاب وسميته بــ "التحرير الكتابي: الوظيفي والإبداعي"، وكلمة التحرير من الفعل حرّر، والفعل حرّر في لسان العرب يدور حول معاني العتق والإفراج، وأمّا الكتابة، فهي مصدر الفعل كتب، وكتب الشيء يكتبه كتْبا وكتاباً وكتابةً، وكتّبه: خطّه ونسخه ودونه، والكتابة: صناعة تتم بالألفاظ التي يتصورها الكاتب في ذهنه، ويصوّر معاني قائمة في نفسه بوساطة قلم يخطّ الصورة الباطنة، ويجعلها محسوسة وظاهرة.
من الدلالتين اللغوية والإصطلاحية - نرى تناسباً تاماً وواضحاً بين الكلمتين "تحرير وكتابة"، وهذه المناسبة تفضي إلى تحرير المعاني والأفكار من الأذهان؛ لتصب بطرق مختلفة بحسب الأغراض والحاجات، كما أشار إلى ذلك الزهراني وآخرون، قال ابن خلدون: "بأنّ الخط والكتابة من الصنائع الإنسانية وهو رسوم وأشكال حرفية تدل على الكلمات المسموعة الدالة على ما في النفس".
وأما الغرض من الكتابة فنقل أفكار الكاتب، وآرائه إلى الآخرين، بوصفهم الطرف الآخر من عملية التواصل اللغوي.
والكتابة ليست نزوة عابرة، أو ردّة فعل طارئة، إنها نزعة دائمة، أصيلة متواصلة، تترك أثراً بين القرّاء، لأنها نتيجة تفكير ومعاناة، ومعرفة، وثقافة، إنّها تمنح الحياة لكلمات جامدة مستكنة في النفوس، والعقول، والمعاجم قبل أن تنضد على الورق، فالقطعة الأدبية تأتي نتيجة مخاض فكري عسير.
هذا وتبرز أهمية الكتابة في كونها من أهمّ وسائل مهارات الإتصال، إتصال الإنسان بغيره، فيها يتجاوز الإنسان حدود الزمان والمكان، كما أنّها وسيلة من وسائل حفظ التراث البشري، قال الجاحظ: "فلولا الكتب المدوّنة، والأخبار المخلّدة...، لبطل أكثر العلم، ولطلب سلطان النسيان سلطان الذكر، ولما كان للناس مفزع إلى موضع إستذكار، ولو تمّ ذلك لحرمنا أكثر النفع".
فالكتابة وعاء يختزن في جوفه كلّ تجربة للأمّة، وكلّ حكمة لها، بل إنها تحفظ على الأمّة وحدتها مهما اختلفت الأزمنة والأمكنة، ومهما تكن الظروف والمناسبات.
ومن أهميتها كذلك أنها تعرّف الناشئة بروائع الإنتاج الفكري العربي، ذلك الإنتاج الذي يزوّدهم بطاقات روحيّة لا حدّ لها، ويكون منها إعتزازهم بأنفسهم، وبتاريخهم المجيد، كما تجعل الناشئة يقفون على كتابات أسهمت في بناء حضارة إنسانية عالمية، ومن ثمَّ تقليد هذه الكتابات لينشأ - من بعدُ - جيل يخط طريقة في الحياة العلمية والثقافية.
