يهدف هذا الكتاب إلى إبراز المكانة التي تشغلها الفلسفة في ميادين النقد المنهجيّ المعاصر، وتتحدد غايته في بيان الأسس الفلسفية التي نهضت عليها المناهج النقدية المعاصرة، متخذاً من نقد ما بعد البنيوية نموذجاً لذلك، فضلاً عن بيان إهتزاز الطروحات النقدية الغربية المعاصرة، وعدم إستقرارها، وذلك لحركية الغايات والأهداف الإستلابية للمنهج التفكيكيّ.
ويثير إشكاليات عدة إنطلاقاً من طبيعة موضوعه الشائك والمتسع والمتداخل مع ميادين معرفية وثقافية وسياسية متنوعة، فهو يدخل في إطار فلسفة النقد الذي يتواشج مع ميدان النقد الأدبي، بوصف الأول ميداناً لصياغة النظريات، وبوصف الثاني حقلاً لإنتاج الأفكار وإبداعها، بمعنى آخر، كون الفلسفة عِلماً، والنقد إبداعاً، فكلّ فيلسوف ومفكر هو بالضرورة أديبٌ، وليس العكس، فلا يمكن تصور ثمة ظاهرة أدبية بلا ظاهرة نقدية، ولا يمكن تصور ظاهرة نقدية بلا أرضية فلسفية صُلبة.
