في كتابه "السرد الفلسفي" يكشف "عبد اللطيف الحرز" عن وجه آخر للفلسفة غير البحث الاستدلالي؛ ألَا وهو (حكواتي سردي) وهو ما يشير إليه بقوله أن الفلسفة هي مجموعة تصوراتنا نحن عن الوجود، وهي تصورات لكائن حادث زماني، وقد توصل إلى هذه المعرفة المتكلمون من خلال تطور زماني في سنوات التعليم والتعلَم. إذن كل المفاهيم الفلسفية من هذه الناحية هي مفاهيم زمانية، وبالتالي فهي جزء من تاريخ شخصي لمجموعة من الناس.
وبناءً على ما تقدم يوضح كتاب "السرد الفلسفي" استخدام تقنية القصة والحكاية في الفلسفة ويقدم حكايات فريدة تناقلت بين كتب الفلاسفة منذ حضارة البابليين والمصريين وحتى ما بعد ظهور المسيحية والاسلام. حكايات ومناقشات تتجاوز المعقول والمنقول حيث يمتزج التاريخ بالعقل، والبرهان بالحكاية.
يضم الكتاب مقدمة وفصلين: في المقدمة ثلاثة مباحث هي "ارتباكات الكتابة بين الاستدلال والتخيل"، "من حدوث العالم إلى زمانية الفلسفة"، "جارية الرومي وحورية الطباطبائي". أما الفصل الأول فجاء بعنوان: [ أبو حامد الغزالي، فلسفة الحجَام وعسل الاستعارة) ويضم سبعة مباحث نذكر منها: "بين الغوالي وابن طفيل، السرد جامع الفلاسفة"، "التواصل السردي من ابن الطفيل والسهروردي إلى العطار وابن سينا"... الخ. وأما الفصل الثاني فحمل عنوان: [ ملا صدرا"، "الإمام الخميني"، التصوف استراحة المحارب"، "معنويات تخييلية بين الطباطبائي والجيلاني"...الخ.
