في كتابه "الموجز في الشركات التجارية" يسعى الدكتور فاروق إبراهيم جاسم إلى بيان أحكام قانون الشركات العراقي رقم 21 لسنة 1997م والتعديلات الجوهرية التي طالته على وفق أحكام الأمر المرقم 64 لسنة 2004 بشكل موجز دون الدخول في التفاصيل التي بسطتها كتب الفقه بشأن قواعد هذا القانون، والخلافات التي أثيرت بشأنها، لهذا فالكتاب يؤمن بشكل قانوني معرفة أولية للقواعد التي تحكم الشركات في القانون العراقي.
وبما أن الشركة هي عقد يتولد عنه شخص معنوي لذا خصص المؤلف الفصل الأول لدراسة عقد الشركة والشخصية المعنوية للشركة وقواعد تأسيس الشركة وأنواع الشركات، بينما تناول في الفصل الثاني شركات الأشخاص وهي: الشركة التضامنية والشركة البسيطة والمشروع الفردي. وأما الفصل الثالث فتم البحث خلاله في شركات الأموال وفي مقدمتها الشركة المساهمة ثم الشركة المحدودة. كما تم بيان ما أورده التعديل الأخير لقانون الشركات بموجب الأمر رقم 64 لسنة 2004 من استحداثه للنمط الجديد من الشركات المسمى بالشركة محدودة المسؤولية.
ويأتي الفصل الرابع والأخير ليبحث في التغييرات التي تطرأ على الشركة من خلال دراسة أنظمة اندماج الشركة وتحولها وانقضائها وتصفيتها.
