يعتبر المنهج السيميولوجي أحد أهم المناهج الحديثة التي يمكن الإعتماد عليها لدراسة النص الأدبي، وخاصة الشعري منه، إذ أنه يهتم بالعلاقات اللغوية داخل النصوص، ويعبر منها إلى العلاقات غير اللغوية، لذلك فقد وجدت إحدى أهم المدونات الشعرية العربية الغنية، وهي المفضليات التي لم تدرس دراسة نصية وسيميولوجية حتى الآن، وستجرى قراءتنا لهذا المتن في ثلاثة من المستويات: (المستوى الأول: ويرتكز على الإلتماس وجوه التشاكل والتباين في لغة الشعر العربي القديم من خلال أحد أكبر دواوين هذا الشعر وهو المفضليات، المستوى الثاني: ويقوم على تقويم اللغة الشعرية لهذا النص في الشبكة الحيزية لمحاولة إفراز الأحياز فيه، أو من حوله؛ ثم لمحاولة منح الحيز الشعري شكلاً سيميائياً يثبت به من دلالته الجامدة إلى مجالات حية متفاعلة متجاوبة متخاصبة مع ما يجاورها، أو يكون له شأن بها، المستوى الأخير: ويتمثل فيه تحليل هذا النص الشعري من رؤية فنية وتقنية أيضاً قد تكون الممارسة التطبيقية التي جرت عليها؛ على هذا النحو من التفصيل والتركيز؛ ونعني بذلك الجهاز التقني الذي سخرناه لتأويل الألوان والمرئيات، والملموسات، والمشمومات، والمذوقات.
