انقسمت القبيلة العربية في العصر الجاهلي إلى ثلاثة أقسام فقد كانت أكثر القبائل في شبه الجزيرة العربية وتنبه ولكن من هذه القبائل نفسها من كان يعبد الله إما لأنه دخل في المسيحية أو اليهودية وكان من المعروف أن القبائل العربية لا يتحدث العربية فيها لا اليهود والمسيحيين ولكن المؤلف في هذا الكتاب جمع قدرًا كبيرًا من الحقائق التي تؤكد أن النصارى في العصر الجاهلي لم يكونوا جهلاء ولا أميين وقد اشتمل الكتاب على بعض من أسماء المعلمين المسيحين في الجاهلية كما اشتمل أخبار تثبت قيام مدارس لتعليم الكتاب في هذا العصر وزاد اطمئنا نأجين تأكد من أن بعض المسيحيين لم يكونا بكتفون بتعليم الكتاب العربية وحدها وإنما كانوا يتعلمون أيضًا لغات الأمم التي تربطهم بهم روابط كثيرة فكان من العرب المسيحيين من يكتب العربية والعبرية والفارسية.
