تستهدف فصول هذا الكتاب وصفحاته الإجابة عن عدد من التساؤلات منها ما يأتي: هل حقاً ما قاله أوجست كونت من أن بين الفكر الديني وكل من الفكر الفلسفي والفكر العلمي خصومة؟ هل انقطعت الصلة تماماً بين كل من أنواع الفكر الثلاث؟ هل هناك عداء بين الدين والفلسفة، وأن أحدهما يبطل الآخر؟ هل مرحلة التفكير الفلسفي قد أمست أثراً بعد عين، وحلت محلها مرحلة التفكير العلمي؟ هل ينبغي الاقتصار الآن على التفكير العلمي وحده؟ أم ما زال للفلسفة موضوعات تنفرد ببحثها بمنهجها الخاص، إلى جانب الموضوعات العلمية؟ وقبل الإجابة عن هذه الأسئلة، ينبغي الاجابة عن الأسئلة الثلاثة الآتية: (ما التفكير الفلسفي؟ ، وما التفكير العلمي؟ ، وما الفرق بين هذين النوعين من التفكير؟ وما الصلة بينهما؟).
ويتكون هذا الكتاب من مقدمة وقد اشرنا فيها إلى أنواع التفكير الثلاثة: (1- التفكير الديني: وقد عالجنا بعضه في كتبنا السابقة، ومن أهمها كتاب الفرق الإسلامية وأصولها الايمانية، وكتاب ابن تيمية وموقفه من الفكر الفلسفي وغيرها، 2- التفكير الفلسفي: وقد أفردنا له الفصل الأول من هذا الكتاب، 3- التفكير العلمي: وعالجناه في الفصل الثاني)، أما الفرق بين التفكير الفلسفي والتفكير العلمي، فقد خصصنا له الفصل الثالث من هذا الكتاب.
