سمير عطا الله هو كاتب لبناني ،ولــد في بيروت العــام 1941 يكتب في جريدة النهار وجريدة الشرق الأوسط. عرف بأنه يمــزج السياســة بالأدب والثقافــة بالحــدث.
يكتــب زاويــة يوميــة في "الشرق الأوسط" منذ 1987،
ومقــالاً في صفحـة الـرأي كل خميــس.
له عشــر مؤلفــات في التــاريخ والروايــة والسفـر.
عمل مراســلا لـ النهـار في أوروبــا والأمـم المتحدة،
وعمل في الكــويت مديــراً لتحريــر " الأنباء"،
وترأس تحريــر سمير عطا الله هو كاتب لبناني ،ولــد في بيروت العــام 1941 يكتب في جريدة النهار وجريدة الشرق الأوسط. عرف بأنه يمــزج السياســة بالأدب والثقافــة بالحــدث.

متزوج وله ولــدان وبكــره يدرس الاقتصــاد في الجامعــة الأميركيــة في بيــروت.
عــاد إلى لبنــان منـذ عامين بعد ربــع قــرن في كندا وباريس ولندن.
وسافــر حـول العالـم، شرقــاً وغربــاً، وقابــل سياسيين وزعمــاء كثيرين.

"بائع الفستق" رواية إنسانية تقع أحداثها بين الواقع والخيال، يسطرها سمير عطا الله بأسلوب قصصي يجعل القارئ واحداً من الشخصيات التي تترقب -وعلى زاوية من إحدى زوايا مكان وزمان الراوي، بإحساس منفعل- لحظة ضياع الأخ، ومأساة الحادثة التي خيمت بتداعياتها على المناخ العام للرواية فبين صوفر وكاويلاك في السنغال تمتد الأحداث بمجرياتها، والمكان الذي يتذكره القارئ أكثر ومن خلال تلك الأحداث -هي تلك الزاوية القابعة بجوار فندق، حيث يقف عندها بائع الفستق الذي به تبتدئ الرواية وبه تنتهي.
