يتألف هذا الفهرس من مجموعة محفوظات عائدة لثلاثة أديرة أرثوذكسية في لبنان: دير سيدة البلمند البطريركي, الموجود في قضاء الكورة, ودير النبي الياس البطريركي في شويّا، قضاء المتن, ودير القديس يوحناّ المعمدان في دوما, من قضاء البترون التابع لأبرشية جبيل والبترون. ولقد احتفظت الأديرة بجزء أساسي من محفوظاتها في غياهب أقبيتها. تتألف هذه المحفوظات من سجلات وأوراق كانت مع جملة مخطوطات دينية, مدرسية محفوظة في صناديق, وتعود هذه المحفوظات إلى فترات متفاوتة من تاريخ هذه الأديرة ولا تغطي سوى جزء من تطوّرها. إلا إنها لا تشكل المصدر الأساسي لدراسة تاريخ هذه الأديرة المنتشرة في العديد من المناطق وتطورها, بل هي أساسية أيضاً في معرفة عدد من المعطيات الاجتماعية والاقتصادية التي كانت سائدة في فترات مختلفة. وبالرجوع لمضمون هذه المحفوظات نجد أنها أساسية لمعرفة تاريخ هذه الأديرة وتطورها, وهي مصدر أولي للعديد من المواضيع التاريخية والدراسات التي يحتاج إليها الطالب, ليس فقط في مجال معرفة التراث الديني, وإنما أيضاً لمعرفة أوضاع وتطور المناطق المجاورة وسكّانها.
فعلى صعيد التعرف إلى هذه الأديرة والدور الذي قامت به خلال الحقب التاريخية المختلفة, تسمح هذه الوثائق للقارئ بدراسة التوسع العقاري للأوقاف مع تأثيرها على أوضاع الفلاحين من سكان القرى ومن شركاء متعاملين مع الدير ودور السلطات الرسمية والشخصيات المحلية في تسيير شؤون الدير, وتشرح بعض الرسائل للقارئ الاهتمامات الدينية والرعائية السائدة خلال هذه المرحلة. أما حول تاريخ المناطق التي تواجدت فيها هذه الأديار, فتوفر هذه المخطوطات السجلات الأساسية لدراسة الأوضاع الاقتصادية في هذه المنطقة وكذلك الأوضاع الاجتماعية, اذا تظهر هذه الوثائق الطبقات والفئات الاجتماعية على تنوعها, من فلاحين وعمال زراعيين وشركاء وخدام وأمراء ومشايخ ورهبان وكهنة أو أساقفة, كما أنها تعطي القارئ فكرة عن العائلات الموجودة في القرى وعن تركيبها وتطورها وأهميتها وتفاعلها بين بعضها البعض وبين الدير.
