يضع المؤلف من خلال مقالاته التي جمعت في هذا الكتاب اصبعه على عدد من الجروح الدامية في الوطن العربي السياسية والاقتصادية مقترحاً بعض الحلول. وبينما يعتبر تحديده لمكان الجروح صحيحاً إلى مدى بعيد جداً، يجد نفسه مضطراً للحذر الشديد في الحلول المقترحة لأن وضع الحلول لمشاكل الشعوب أكبر من أن يحيط بها كاتب أو عدة كتاب. وأمله أن يحصل تغيير جذري للسياسة والاقتصاد في الوطن العربي دونما ثورة، وهو إن كان يدافع في معظم مقالات الكتاب عن نظام الحرية الاقتصادية بحرارة يورد ملاحظتين أساسيتين: أولاهما عدم ترك الحبل للحرية الاقتصادية على الغارب لكيلا تستفحل المساوئ الكامنة في ذلك النظام. ثانيهما أن المرحلة التي تمر بها الإنسانية اليوم ترفض الشيوعية وتلفظها راغبة بالعودة إلى الحرية الاقتصادية ضمن حدود لا بد منها.
