قد يكون هذا الكتاب، الأول من نوعه الذي يصدر باللغة العربية، ولو مترجماً... ذلك أنَّه وُضِع ليضع "علم السَّياسة" في إطاره الصحيح ومعناه العلمي ومدلوله الحقيقي، وليُبدِّد الإشكال الذي ينتج لدى الباحث من كلمة "العلوم السياسيَّة"، ذلك أنَّها تشمل أكثر من علم، ففي إطارها، يدخل التاريخ الدبلوماسي والقانون العام والمبادئ والعقائد السياسيَّة والإجتماعيَّة، وغيرها من العلوم التي يجب تمييزها عن "علم السياسة"، بإعتبار هذا العلم عضواً في أسرة العلوم السياسيَّة الكبيرة، وعلماً قائماً بنفسه هو: "البوليتولوجيا".
إنَّ الرغبة في الإحاطة بكامل مادة علم السَّياسة، قادت علماء السَّياسَة إلى وضع لائحة مُصطلحات بما كان يهمُّ - في الواقع - المؤسَّسات والأفراد المنصرفين إلى البحث فيها أو تدريسها، هذه اللائحة يُمكن تفصيلها بأربع فقرات كبرى:
1-النظرية السياسيَّة.
2-المؤسَّسات السياسيَّة.
3-الأحزاب، الكتل والرأي العام.
4-العلاقات الدوليَّة.
