يتطلع الدارسون لعمل أو علوم التربية إلى مرجع يفي تطلعاتهم في مجالات التدريس والكفايات والمهارات الواجب توافرها في المعلم، وهو في أثناء إعداد نفسه للدخول عمليا في هذه المهنة، والكتاب الحالي مرجع يعود إليه المعلم ليستقي منه المعرفة والمعلومات الخاصة بالتعلم والتعليم، أو التدريس، أو ما يدعى الخبرة المربية أو الاستعداد للتخطيط للدرس، أو الإجابة عن تساؤلاىت عديدة حول دور المعلم في إعداد الوسائل التعليمية وكيفية استخدامها.
ثم الإجابة العملية للسؤال التالي: ماذا عن النشاط المدرسي وما أثر ذلك في عملية التدريس، وما الذي يتطلب من المعلم القيام به في الصف من تفاعل حركي ولفظي وغير لفظي؟
والكتاب يعرض لكل ما مر إلى جانب البحث في أنماط التواصل وإدارة الصف وتنظيم الفضاء الصفي، وكذلك أهمية الكتاب المدرسي واستخدامه في عملية التدريس.
ثم يعرج الكتاب على التذكير في أهم العوامل المؤثرة في الأداء التدريسي للمعلم وماذا ينتظر المجتمع من التعليم؟ وماذا ينتظر الآباء من هذه العملية؟ ويبين دور الواجبات المدرسية ودور تكنولوجيا التعليم في تطوير التدريس من مديولات وحقائب تعليمية وألعاب أكاديمية، وتمثل الواقع، والعمل ضمن فريق.
والكتاب يعطي فرصة جيدة لتغطية موضوع التقويم: تقويم التلاميذ، وأنواع الإختبارات الشفوية والتحريرية والعملية، وكذلك تقويم أداء المعلم في التدريس ويعدد أساليب ملاحظة اللفظ أو الحركات المرئية أو أنماط التفاعل اللفظي.
وبعد فالكتاب وفق ما اجتهد فيه المؤلف صالح لكل طالب يعد نفسه لمهنة التدريس مهما كان اختصاصه، وهو معين لكل متدرب، ولكل من يريد أن يستمر في فهم أبعاد المهنة في أثناء عمله معلما.
