لذلك نسعى في هذا الكتاب إلى تحليل محتوى كتب التربية الإجتماعية والوطنية المقررة على تلاميذ المرحلة الأساسية من الصف الأول إلى الصف السادس بغرض الكشف عن خصائصها العامة، وأهدافها العامة والخاصة، وتصميم محتواها وتتابعه، ومدى وظيفية ما فيها من وسائل تعليمية وتقويم.
وفي هذا الكتاب سيتم تحليل وتقويم كتب التربية الإجتماعية والوطنية في المرحلة الأساسية وفق منهجية علمية حديثة، تستند للمعايير العالمية للكتب المدرسية، في مجالات أعداد الكتب وأهدافها ومقدماتها ومحتواها المعرفي والوجداني والمهاري ووسائلها وأنشطتها التعليمية، وما وردفيها من تقويم وسيتم فيها أيضاً إستطلاع آراء المعلمين الذين يدرسون هذه المباحث، وستتضمن كذلك بناء نموذج لتطويرها وتطوير وحدات تعليمية كنماذج تمثل فيها معايير بمواصفات عالمية للكتاب المدرسي.
