-ألف أكثر من خمسين كتاباً في شتى مجالات المعرفة، وتُرجم بعضها إلى أهم اللغات الحية في العالم.
-حاز شهادة الدكتوراه في العلوم العسكرية من أكاديمية الأركان العامة (فورشيلوف) عام 1980 وفي العام 1990 حاز دكتوراه في العلوم التاريخية من معهد التاريخ العسكري في موسكو.
وهذا الكتاب لا يقدم المتعة فحسب، بل يقدم ويبين أسلوب الكاتب ودقته في الإختيار، وإحساسه العالي بالجمال، ونضجه تجاه المواقف الإنسانية النبيلة، وعلاقة كل ذلك بتهذيب النفس من خلال إطلالته البانورامية التي تناثرت على عناوين كتبه في شتى مجالات المعرفة الإنسانية بدءاً من التاريخ والفكر العسكري ومروراً بالأدب والشعر وصولاً إلى الفيزياء الكونية، وكذلك إختياراته المتعددة في الشعر العربي، حيث كانت البداية مع شذرات شاعر وقصيدة "ديوان العرب" التي أتقن العماد أول مصطفى طلاس إختيارها، نظراً لحسه المرهف، وإنجذابه لروعة البيان وسحره، ولأنه صاحب لقب فارس السيف والقلم وله ترانيمه الخاصة في محراب معبد الجمال فقد اتحفنا بعدها "بمختارات من شعر نزار قباني" ليأخذنا بعد ذلك في رحلة مع "العيون في الشعر العربي" وأتبعه بمختارات حملت اسم "بيت القصيد".
وهذا الإصدار الحالي والذي حمل عنوان "من كل روض زهرة" أطلعنا فيه على أجمل معلقات وقصائد فحول الشعر الجاهلي، ثم عرج على دواوين شعراء العصرين الأموي والعباسي، وأطل بعدها على أعذب الشعر الأندلسي، دون أن ينسى أن يترك مساحة واسعة للقارئ مع أرق وأمتع شعراء العصر الحديث.
