الكتاب دراسة تجارب مُعاشة لإحدى وعشرين امرأة معاقة من كل من سوريا وفلسطين واليمن والبحرين ومصر والأردن ولبنان. اثنتا عشرة منهن لديهن إعاقة حركية وواحدة سمعية وواحدة إعاقة مركبة (بصرية حركية) وسبع مكفوفات.
تناول البحث مع كل واحدة منهن الجوانب المختلفة من شخصيتها وحياتها. مع التركيز على أهم التحديات والصعوبات التي اعترضتهن وطرق تصديهن لها وتغلبهن عليها. لذلك تبرز النجاحات والإخفاقات أحياناً وتتضح هوية الذين مدوا يد المساعدة ووفروا الدعم لهن. علماً أن بعضهن لم يحصلن على أي دعم، لكنهن استطعن بمفردهن أن يصلن إلى مراكز ومواقع بارزة.
