وماهي إلا لحظات حتى تدب الروح في التمثال، ويغدو أسداً حقيقياً يهجم على الأرض، فيفترسها في الحال، ويترك باب البيت، وقد آمن بالقدر، وأدرك أن المكتوب على جبينه هو أن يكتفي من ريحانة بهذه المسافة من القرب.
فهو لا يعرف حتى لون عينيها. . ولم يصادف منها سوى صفحة وجهها الذي يتلألأ تحت شيلة سوداء، وقد حالفه الحظ لكي يراه، عندما أطلت من باب البيت لمناداة طفلتها آسيا، الوحيدة التي تبقت من صغارها على قيد الحياة .
