"سيد الكوابيس وخيمة الأحلام" قصة لليافعين من تأليف أسماء أبو مراحيل تهتم بهذه الفئة العمرية التي سقطت من إهتمامات الأدباء، والتي تقع في المنطقة الوسطى بين أدب الكبار وأدب الأطفال، فجاءت هذه القصة لتسد ثغرة في المكتبة العربية.
في القصة تسرد أبو مراحيل حكاية "ميمو" الفتى المتشرد، في إنتقاله من حال، إلى حال، إذ لم يكن يتخيل أبداً أنه سيكون في النهاية سبب سعادةٍ للناس من حوله، كانت أقصى أحلام الفتى هي أن ينتهي من عمله في تلميع أحذية أولئك الناس.
في كواليس القصة تبرز بوضوح أساليب إستغلال تجار البشر للأولاد الفقراء، إذ تسلط المؤلفة الضوء على مأوى للمشردين، سيطر عليه ما يسمى بــ "الزعيم" الذي يقوم بتدريب الأولاد على سرقة المحلات التجارية، ومنازل الأغنياء، وعندما يتم الإمساك بأحدهم فإن الزعيم يتخلى عنه نهائياً، وكيف أن بعض الأولاد يهربون ليعملوا لحسابهم الخاص، وما يواجهونه من مشكلات وإستغلال البعض لهم، ولكنهم، أي الأولاد، لا يخرجون عن أحلامهم بحياة أفضل، الشيء الذي قدّ يوقعهم في شرك "سيد الكوابيس"، ومن هنا تبدأ الحكاية...
"بدأ سيد الكوابيس يصرخ بغضب، ويجري نحو عربته كي يحمي ما تبقى لديه من ذهب وفضة، ما عادت صناديقه سحرية، ولا تحتوي على ذهب إلاّ ما قد يحتويه صندوق عادي... خلع الساحر العجوز عباءته وتاجه وخبأهما، وارتدى ملابس عادية، وهرب بعربته بعيداً قبل أن يفكر أخذ بسرقته وهو لا يتوقف الصراخ: "اللعنة عليك ميمو، ستندم على ما فعلت... ستندم".
أما أنا لم أكن أكثر سعادة في حياتي من هذه اللحظة، بدأت أمشي في إتجاه البلدة وأنا أقول بأعلى صوتي: بلدة النيام بلدة النيام... ما عاد هناك خيمة الأحلام... استيقظوا... استيقظوا... انتهى عصر الأوهام".
