مما وثقت منه وثوقاً في هذا الموضوع بالضبط أو في مواضيع أخرى لسانية متصلة بهذا الموضوع ذاته أو بغيره أن تحديد المفهوم المصطلحاتي في أي مجال من مجالات البحث تحديداً صارماً قد يكون له عواقب عكسية أخطر مما نتصور أو مما كنا نطمح صارماً قد يكون له عواقب عسكية أخطر مما نتصور أو مما كنا نطمح إليه تماماً، فالناس بمن فيهم المختصون، إلى غاية يومنا هذا لم تتوافق آراؤهم على إضفاء تعريف جامع مقنع حول لغتهم الطبيعية التي بها يلهجون، بل لا يعرفون إلا حَدْسِياً أو بتفسيرات متضاربة لماذا هم هكذا يتكلمون...
وتكون هذه الخطورة أشد وأعمق حين نتصدى لبحث ظواهر مشتقة من هذه الإشكالية التي هي سلطة قاهرة، وقهرها شامل وأزلي، هي اللغة "ينتظر منا البعض نحن المثقفين أن نقوم في كل مناسبة، ضد السلطة بصيغة المفرد، بيد أن معركتنا تدور خارج هذا الميدان، إنها تقوم ضد السلطة في أشكالها المتعددة، وليست هذه بالمعركة اليسيرة" ذلك أنه إن كانت السلطة متعددة في القضاء الإجتماعي، فهي بالمقابل، ممتدة في الزمان التاريخي... هذا الشيء الذي ترتسم فيه السلطة، ومنذ الأزل، هو اللغة، أو بتعبير أدق" اللسان.
ومما وثقت منه أيضاً أن محاولة الوقوف على إشكالية من مثل هذه الإشكاليات تقتضي أن تأخذ بعين الإعتبار أبعاداً مختلفة، وبدون مراعاة هذه الأبعاد، سنبقى ندور في محيط لا هو بالمفتوح ولا هو بالمغلق، وهذه الأبعاد في تقديرنا، وهنا خاصة، منها ما هو تاريخي، ومنها ما له طابع فلسفي أو منطقي، ومنها ما هو لساني بل وحتى فقلغي (فقه اللغة)...
